Freight forwarding Bremen – transport to and from Czechia
Transport from Bremen and Bremerhaven to the Czech Republic: overseas containers, coffee, steel coils, frozen fish and aerospace parts. FTL, groupage, reefer.

Coffee, steel and aircraft parts
Bremen has long been Germany's coffee-roasting centre, and traders in coffee, cocoa and cotton are still based here. In the north of the city stands a steelworks, cars are built in Bremen, and the city is one of Europe's aerospace centres, producing aircraft wing components, rocket parts and satellites. Brewing, chocolate making and food processing complete the picture.
The most common imports from Bremen to Czechia are:
- roasted and green coffee and cocoa,
- steel coils, sheet and other steel products,
- frozen fish, seafood and frozen food from Bremerhaven,
- aerospace and precision engineering components,
- goods unpacked from overseas containers: consumer products, textiles, electronics, furniture.
Czech suppliers ship automotive components, glass, beer, timber and building materials here, as well as goods for export overseas through Bremerhaven.
Two cities, one state
The Free Hanseatic City of Bremen is Germany's smallest federal state and consists of two cities about 60 km apart. Bremen lies inland on the River Weser; Bremerhaven sits at its mouth on the North Sea. Bremerhaven has one of Europe's largest container terminals and is among the world's biggest ports for vehicle handling, along with a fishing industry, cold stores and frozen-food production. Bremen itself has Weser ports for steel, bulk, grain and break-bulk, a large freight village and industrial sites on both banks. Always tell us exactly where your goods are: "Bremen" can mean a city-centre warehouse or a terminal an hour further north.
Collecting a container
We can collect a container at the Bremerhaven terminal and deliver it directly to you, or take it to a warehouse in Bremen for unloading so the goods continue as pallets. We need the container number, type and gross weight, the shipping line's release and the empty-return depot. Non-EU goods can be cleared in Germany or travel under transit for clearance in Czechia; let us know who is handling customs. Reefer containers need a tractor unit able to power the refrigeration unit. For exports overseas we deliver Czech goods to your ocean forwarder's warehouse in Bremen for stuffing, or to the terminal as instructed; we then need the booking number and the cargo closing time.
Route and transit times
Bremen to Prague is approximately 650 km: the A27 and A7 to Hanover, the A2 to Magdeburg, the A14 via Leipzig, then past Dresden to the Breitenau/Krásný Les border and the D8. From Bremerhaven it is approximately 710 km. A single driver usually cannot complete the trip in one day, so expect delivery in Prague on the next working day. Brno is approximately 860 km and two working days away. See freight forwarding Hanover for part of the route.
Matching vehicle to cargo
Coffee absorbs odours easily, so it travels in a clean, dry trailer and never alongside chemicals or strong-smelling food. Steel coils need a coil-well trailer and proper securing. Frozen fish moves in a freezer trailer with an unbroken temperature record. Aerospace parts call for air suspension and careful handling, either as a full truck or by express. Smaller consignments from Bremen warehouses suit groupage; port chemicals go with an ADR carrier.
Holidays and documents
Trucks over 7.5 tonnes may not drive in Germany on Sundays and public holidays, and in July and August also on Saturdays on selected motorways. Bremen also observes Reformation Day on 31 October. For EU goods a CMR note and invoice are enough; frozen food needs a temperature record and overseas goods customs documents. Use our calculator for a price including German toll.
