Freight forwarding Bratislava – transport to and from Czechia
Road freight between Bratislava and the Czech Republic via the D2 and Kúty/Lanžhot: car parts, plastics, food and wine. Express, pallets or full trucks.
The Slovak capital as a freight hub
Bratislava sits on the Danube right where Slovakia meets Austria and Hungary – Vienna is only about 60 km away. For Czech traffic, the key link is the D2 motorway: from Brno it runs south to the Lanžhot/Kúty border crossing and on through Malacky to Bratislava. That is roughly 130 km from Brno and 330 km from Prague via the D1, so a full truck or van loaded in the morning delivers the same day. Austria is reached via the Jarovce/Kittsee crossing, Hungary via Rusovce/Rajka.
The city has a river port with a container and intermodal terminal, linked by the Danube to Vienna, Budapest and the Black Sea and via the Rhine–Main–Danube canal to the North Sea ports. Bratislava airport handles cargo flights, and Vienna's much larger air cargo hub is less than an hour away. Warehouses and distribution centres cluster along the motorways – the D1 towards Senec, the D2 towards Malacky and the D4 ring road.
Industry around Bratislava
Slovakia is among the world's largest car producers per head of population, and the Bratislava region is at the heart of it, with car assembly on the city's edge and in nearby Trnava and a dense supplier network around them. The city's refinery and petrochemical complex produces fuels and plastic granulate. Electrical engineering, machinery, chemicals and food processing are also important, and the Small Carpathians just north of the city – Rača, Pezinok, Modra – form a well-known wine region.
What we bring into the Czech Republic
- automotive parts and components for Czech plants and workshops,
- plastic granulate and chemicals for production,
- electrical and electronic goods,
- food, beverages and Small Carpathian wine,
- building materials and retail goods from regional distribution centres.
Heading the other way are consumer goods for retail chains, food and drink, building materials, machinery, glass and paper products, often to motorway warehouses that serve all of Slovakia. See our page on transport to Slovakia and the Prague – Bratislava route.
Rules of the road
Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes pay an electronic toll in Slovakia; lighter vans need a motorway vignette. Heavy trucks are banned for most of Sundays and public holidays, and in Czechia on Sunday and holiday afternoons, so a load collected late on Friday may only arrive on Monday. City traffic is heavy at rush hour, especially on the D1 near the Prístavný bridge, so we prefer early loading slots.
Loading tips for Bratislava
Plants and large warehouses around the city work to fixed time slots, and a truck without a booking can wait at the gate for hours. Ask your supplier in advance for the exact site address, gate or dock number, a confirmed loading time and the reference the gatehouse expects. Family wineries in the Small Carpathians are the opposite case: often no dock or forklift and narrow village streets, so we send a van or small truck with a tail lift.
Which service fits
An express van suits spare parts and urgent shipments up to about 1–1.5 tonnes. One or several pallets travel economically by groupage in one to two working days. A full trailer of parts, granulate or building materials goes as a dedicated truck, and wine in summer or food in a refrigerated vehicle. Fuels, chemicals and some granulates are ADR goods and travel with certified carriers. As both countries are in the EU and Schengen, a CMR note and invoice or delivery note are all the paperwork you need. Check an indicative price in the calculator.

FAQ
The route is about 330 km via the D2 and D1, so full loads and express vans deliver the same day. Groupage usually takes one to two working days.
No. Both countries are in the EU and Schengen, so there are no border checks or duties – a CMR note and an invoice or delivery note are sufficient.
Car parts and components, plastic granulate and chemicals, electrical goods, food, Small Carpathian wine and goods from regional distribution centres.
Yes, containers and palletised goods from the river port can be trucked to the Czech Republic. We need the shipment reference and confirmation that it is ready for release.
Heavy trucks may not drive for most of Sundays and public holidays. We plan Friday afternoon loadings so the truck clears the route before the ban starts.
For one to a few pallets groupage is usually cheaper. From about half a trailer, or when time matters, a full truck or express van is the better choice.
