Our office in Poštorná

We work from Břeclav-Poštorná, a district that belonged to Lower Austria until 1919 and became part of Břeclav in 1974. The Austrian border is a short drive away and the Slovak border near Kúty about 10 km. We know local access roads, gates and waiting areas first-hand, which helps when a driver needs directions to a loading bay. Břeclav itself has around 25,000 inhabitants and lies on the Dyje (Thaya) river in the Lower Morava valley; the Lednice–Valtice cultural landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, surrounds the town to the west and south.

A railway junction since 1839

The Northern Railway from Vienna reached Břeclav in 1839 – the first steam railway on today's Czech territory – and the town became a major junction. Lines run to Brno and Prague, to Přerov, Ostrava and Poland, to Kúty and Bratislava, via Hohenau to Vienna, plus a branch to Znojmo. The railway brought timber and food industries; a sugar factory founded in 1862 grew into the largest in Austria-Hungary.

Three directions within half an hour

  • Slovakia and Hungary: the D2 motorway runs through the north of town; the Lanžhot / Brodské crossing is about 10 minutes away, Bratislava about 70 km and Budapest about 270 km.
  • Austria and Italy: the I/40 to Mikulov and the Mikulov / Drasenhofen crossing onto the Austrian A5 towards Vienna, roughly 100 km in total.
  • Brno and the north: about 60 km to Brno on the D2, then the D1 to Prague (about 260 km in total) or to Ostrava and Poland.

This makes Břeclav a natural point for combining loads: a truck from Germany can unload in Brno and Bratislava or Vienna and pick up South Moravian goods on the way back. Single pallets travel by pallet groupage that serves the region regularly.

Local industry and wine

A chemical plant in Poštorná produces thermal phosphoric acid and phosphates for food and industrial use. Phosphoric acid is corrosive and travels as dangerous goods, so we only use carriers equipped and trained for ADR. The town also processes plastics, rubber, metal and wood. Vineyards around Valtice and Mikulov supply bottled wine to Austria, Germany, Poland and Slovakia, while wineries import bottles, closures, cartons and barrels. In summer we recommend temperature-controlled trucks for wine.

Typical imports

We regularly bring raw materials and packaging for chemical production, metals and plastic granulate, bottles and winery equipment from Italy, France and Germany, building materials and tiles from Italy and Austria, fresh produce from Spain and Italy for wholesalers, and goods for shops and online retailers from distribution centres in Germany and Poland.

Loading around Břeclav

Being local, we can often send a vehicle to nearby villages at short notice. Wineries in narrow cellar lanes rarely have a dock, so we send a small truck with a tail lift or a van; industrial sites on the edge of town usually have docks for rear loading of semi-trailers. Please give us the exact address and gate, dispatch hours, number and size of pallets, total weight and whether a forklift is available – plus the safety data sheet for hazardous goods.

Practical notes

Austria bans vehicles over 7.5 t from Saturday afternoon to Sunday night and on holidays, with reduced night speeds for trucks. Slovakia and Hungary have their own weekend and holiday bans, and all three countries use electronic tolls. Austrian and Slovak holidays do not always match Czech ones, so we check loading dates in advance. Our dispatch office works on weekdays from 8:00 to 18:00 and usually sends a non-binding offer within 30 minutes; for an indicative price use the calculator.
