Freight forwarding Regensburg – transport to and from Czechia
Regensburg is about 250 km from Prague via Rozvadov. Electronics, car parts, machinery and Danube port cargo moved to and from Czechia by pallet or full truck.
A Danube city a short drive from Bohemia
Regensburg sits where the Danube reaches its northernmost point, roughly 250 km south-west of Prague. That short distance shapes everything about the lane: a truck leaving a Pilsen or Prague warehouse in the morning can unload in Regensburg the same afternoon, and freight collected there before noon often reaches western Bohemia on the same day. From Brno, plan for about 430 to 460 km and next-morning delivery.
Two crossings are realistic. The motorway route uses the Czech D5 to Rozvadov / Waidhaus, the German A6 to the Oberpfälzer Wald interchange and then the A93 south into the city. The alternative over Folmava / Furth im Wald and Cham is shorter on the map but runs on federal roads through villages, so it suits vans better than articulated trucks.
The port between the Rhine and the Black Sea
Since the Main-Danube Canal opened in 1992, joining the river at Kelheim just upstream, Regensburg has been a transfer point between Rhine and Danube shipping. Its port, the busiest in Bavaria for ship cargo, has several basins, its own rail network and a rail-road container facility. The bulk of what moves through it is food and animal feed, farm products, steel and non-ferrous metals, ores and building aggregates.
For Czech buyers this often means the last leg of a long journey: a consignment arrives by barge or train, waits in a port warehouse, and then needs a truck to the Czech Republic. Send us the shipment reference, the terminal and a warehouse contact and we will book the collection.
What the region makes and ships east
Beyond the medieval skyline, the city is an industrial location with a large car assembly plant, a cluster of automotive suppliers and a strong presence in semiconductors, sensors and electronic control units. Manufacturers of bottling and packaging lines are based in the surrounding area. Typical inbound loads for Czech customers include:
- sensors, chips and control units for vehicle and machine builders,
- car components and spare parts,
- crated machines and sections of filling or packaging lines,
- grain, feed or steel handled at the port,
- beer, food and consumer goods from distribution warehouses near the A3.
In the other direction, Czech suppliers send stampings, castings, plastic parts, cable harnesses, glass and building materials to firms across the Upper Palatinate.
Choosing the right vehicle
Electronics should not travel under heavy metal parts, so tell us when pallets must not be stacked; our pallet service can then handle them accordingly. A missing component for a stopped line goes by van as express transport. Full trailers of parts or regular shuttles run as dedicated trucks, while machines need to be discussed in advance: crane loading from above calls for an open or curtain-side trailer, forklift loading from the side for a tautliner. Adhesives, paints and aerosols travel with an ADR-certified carrier.
Old town, holidays and delivery windows
The old town with Stadtamhof and the twelfth-century Stone Bridge has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006. Its lanes and pedestrian zones only allow deliveries during limited hours, so shops in the centre are best served by smaller vehicles. Industrial estates and the port lie on the eastern and southern edges with quick access to the A3.
Bavaria observes Epiphany, Corpus Christi and All Saints' Day on top of the national holidays, and Regensburg, as a predominantly Catholic city, also keeps the Assumption on 15 August. On Sundays and public holidays, trucks over 7.5 t may not drive, and further Saturday restrictions apply on selected motorways in summer. Distance-based toll is charged for vehicles over 3.5 t on motorways and federal roads.

FAQ
The distance via Rozvadov is about 250 km. Freight loaded in the morning is usually delivered in Prague the same day.
Mostly Rozvadov / Waidhaus, because the D5, A6 and A93 are motorway all the way. The Folmava crossing is shorter but slower and better suited to vans.
Yes. Give us the shipment reference, terminal and a warehouse contact and we will send a truck to pick it up.
Electronics and sensors, automotive parts, sections of filling and packaging lines, and port cargo such as grain or steel.
Yes, Assumption Day is a public holiday there. Heavy trucks may not drive and most warehouses are closed.
Only during limited delivery hours and with a smaller vehicle, so we normally plan a van or light truck for addresses in the old town.
