Why Frankfurt imports reach Czechia so quickly

Frankfurt am Main sits at the heart of the Rhine-Main region, roughly 510 km by road from Prague. That is within a single driver's daily driving limit, so a full truckload collected in the morning usually arrives in the Czech Republic the next working day. Our carriers take the A3 past Aschaffenburg and Würzburg, join the A6 at Nuremberg and cross into Czechia at Waidhaus/Rozvadov, finishing on the D5 motorway via Plzeň. If roadworks slow the A3, the driver can switch to the A7 or route via Heilbronn without a significant delay.

Goods we typically bring from Rhine-Main to Czechia

Beyond the banking district, the region is home to chemical and pharmaceutical sites, machine builders, print and packaging industries and large wholesale warehouses. For Czech and Slovak buyers we most often arrange:

  • chemical raw materials, coatings, paints and adhesives, some of which travel under ADR rules,
  • pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, frequently temperature-controlled,
  • spare parts for production machinery and printing equipment,
  • cosmetics and household products from Hesse distribution centres,
  • air cargo from Asia and the Americas that lands at Frankfurt Airport and continues by road.

Air freight from outside the EU needs customs clearance, either at the airport or under a transit document to a Czech customs office. We agree the procedure with your customs agent before collection, so the truck does not wait for the release.

Collection points: industrial parks and the airport cargo area

Most warehouses lie outside the city along the A3, A5 and A66, work with booked time slots and load from the rear at a dock. If your supplier has no loading dock, tell us in advance and we will arrange a vehicle with a tail lift or side loading. The airport cargo area requires the vehicle and driver to be registered beforehand, so please send air freight orders at least a day ahead. Central Frankfurt and neighbouring towns are a low-emission zone requiring a green sticker, which our carriers already have.

German driving bans, holidays and tolls

Trucks over 7.5 tonnes may not drive on Sundays and public holidays between midnight and 10 pm, and in summer some motorways are closed to them on Saturdays as well. Holidays vary by federal state: Hesse and Bavaria both observe Corpus Christi, which is a normal working day in Czechia. A load collected late on Friday may therefore arrive on Monday. Toll applies to vehicles over 3.5 tonnes on motorways and federal roads and is already included in our price.

Choosing the right service

OptionBest forTypical transit
Groupage (LTL)1–10 pallets, flexible timing2–4 working days
Full truckload13+ pallets or bulky goods1–2 working days
Express vanurgent spare partsame day

Smaller shipments travel most economically through our pallet groupage service. When a production line is down, an express van covers the distance in around six hours of driving.

Documents and what to confirm with your supplier

Goods moving from Germany to Czechia stay within the EU, so no customs declaration is required. The driver signs a CMR consignment note, and the shipment travels with an invoice or delivery note; for pharmaceuticals we add the temperature log. Ask your supplier to confirm the exact loading address, warehouse opening hours, the reference for the gatehouse, pallet count and dimensions, and the total weight. Our dispatch team works Monday to Friday, 8:00–18:00, and usually sends a non-binding quote within 30 minutes. For an instant estimate, use the freight calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

A full truckload usually arrives the next working day after collection, sometimes the same evening with an early pickup. Pallet groupage typically takes 2–4 working days.

Chemical raw materials, coatings and adhesives, pharmaceuticals, machine spare parts, cosmetics and air cargo arriving at Frankfurt Airport.

Yes. We need the air waybill number, the customs status of the goods and advance notice, because the cargo area requires the truck to be registered.

Yes. In Germany trucks over 7.5 tonnes cannot drive on Sundays and public holidays from midnight to 10 pm, and regional holidays in Hesse and Bavaria also apply.

Not for goods shipped from Germany, a CMR note and an invoice or delivery note are enough. Customs only matters for air freight originating outside the EU.

Usually not; six pallets are a typical groupage shipment. A dedicated truck makes sense when timing is critical or the goods must not be transshipped.
