Freight forwarding Aarhus – transport to and from the Czech Republic
Road freight between Aarhus and the Czech Republic, all overland via Jutland: port containers, food, wind turbine components and machinery. FTL and pallets.

No ferry needed
Unlike Copenhagen or the Swedish cities, Aarhus is on the Jutland peninsula, which joins the European mainland. Trucks leaving Aarhus avoid ferries and bridge tolls altogether: they head south on the E45 along the east coast of Jutland via Horsens, Vejle and Kolding to the border at Padborg/Flensburg. Padborg is a long-established international trucking hub with warehouses and cross-docks of many hauliers, which makes it a natural consolidation point for groupage from Denmark to Central Europe.
In Germany the route follows the A7 to Hamburg, then via Berlin and Dresden to the D8 and the Breitenau/Krásný Les crossing; additional pick-ups between Hamburg and Berlin are easy to fit in. The total distance to Prague is roughly 1,000 km. A full load with a single driver typically arrives late on the second working day or on the morning of the third; Moravia takes one day more.
Denmark's main container gateway
The Port of Aarhus is Denmark's largest commercial port and handles more containers than any other Danish terminal. Deep-sea calls and feeder services from the big North Sea ports bring goods that are then distributed across Jutland; the port also handles grain, feed, vegetable oils, building materials and wind energy components. Distribution centres for the entire Danish market line the port area and the E45.
That means loads from Aarhus are not only Danish-made goods but also overseas cargo stored there. Container collections run to booked slots and require the container number and a release from the shipping line.
What Central Jutland sends to Czechia
- wind turbine components and spare parts, from bearings to control electronics,
- pumps, valves and industrial equipment,
- vegetable oils and speciality fats for food and cosmetics production,
- dairy products, cheese and pork, chilled or frozen,
- animal feed, seeds and food ingredients,
- clothing and textiles from the Herning area, the traditional base of the Danish fashion trade,
- overseas container cargo unloaded in the port.
In the other direction, Czech exporters ship machinery, castings, cables and electrical installation material, glass, beer, furniture and building components to Jutland, including parts for local machine and energy equipment makers.
Spare parts, chilled food and groupage
Turbine blades and towers need specialised heavy-haul permits, which we do not handle. Spare parts, gearboxes, bearings, electronics and service tools, however, move as ordinary freight by full load, by pallet groupage or by express van when a turbine is down and the part cannot wait. Dairy and meat travel in reefers with continuous temperature logging; speciality fats often need a controlled temperature to stay in the right state, so please specify it in advance. Groupage from Jutland usually takes 4–6 working days.
Danish toll, environmental zone and documents
Since 2025 Denmark charges heavy goods vehicles a distance-based toll differentiated by CO₂ emissions, replacing the former time-based vignette. Central Aarhus has an environmental zone that admits trucks only with Euro 6 engines; modern vehicles comply, but we check it for city-centre deliveries. Denmark has no general weekend truck ban, while Germany bans trucks on Sundays and public holidays and restricts Saturdays in summer. No customs formalities apply between Denmark and Czechia: a CMR note and an invoice or delivery note are enough.
Before collection in Aarhus
- For port containers, send the container number, shipping line and release note.
- Danish warehouses often start early and close early in the afternoon, so we plan morning collections.
- Confirm whether the delivery point has a dock or needs a tail-lift vehicle.
- For food, state the required temperature and how it should be recorded.
