What Braga ships

Braga is one of Portugal’s key locations for electronics manufacturing, above all electronics for cars: infotainment and navigation units, control modules and sensors. The city also has a technology-oriented university and a growing number of software and electronics development firms. Typical loads for Czech customers include:

• electronic modules, sensors and assembled circuit boards for the automotive industry
• tyres and rubber products from the Vila Nova de Famalicão area
• plastic and metal parts for car assembly lines
• test and measurement equipment, prototypes and samples
• pottery and ceramics from nearby Barcelos

Close to Galicia

Braga lies in Portugal’s far north, about 50 km from Porto and only around 70 km from the Spanish border at Valença / Tui. Trucks therefore do not need to cross inland Portugal like loads from Lisbon; they can head straight north into Galicia. Braga cargo also combines easily with goods from the Vigo area or from Porto, which is often the cheapest way to fill a full truck if you buy from several suppliers in north-western Iberia. Electronics needs a different approach

An electronics shipment is light but valuable and sensitive. Groupage involves several handling steps at depots, so for expensive modules a full truck or a dedicated van running direct from supplier to you is safer. If required, we use a closed box trailer with a seal instead of a curtain-sider. Anti-static packaging is the supplier’s job; the carrier must respect stacking limits. Please tell us the value of the goods: carrier liability under the CMR Convention is capped by weight, so for light, high-value cargo additional insurance is worth considering. Shipments with lithium batteries may fall under ADR rules.

Route and transit times

From Braga the A3 runs north to the bridge over the Minho between Valença and Tui. In Spain the truck follows the A-52 via Ourense to Benavente, then via Burgos to the French border at Irun, through France past Bordeaux and Paris into Germany and via Nuremberg to Rozvadov. The alternative is via Porto, the A25 and Vilar Formoso. The total is roughly 2,600–2,700 km.

Between Ourense and Benavente the motorway crosses mountain passes in Galicia and Zamora. In winter, snow can close or restrict the section for trucks, so for December to February transports we allow an extra day or use the southern route via Vilar Formoso.

A full truck with one driver usually reaches Czechia in 5–6 working days, an express van with two drivers in about 2–3 days, and groupage pallets in 7–10 working days. France and Germany ban heavy trucks on weekends and public holidays; tolls apply in Portugal, France, Germany and on parts of the Spanish network.

Delivering to plants and booking tips

Factories in and around Braga receive goods in fixed time slots and only with prior notification. For deliveries from Czechia we need the order or delivery number, the unloading point within the site and the time window; a late vehicle often waits for the next free slot. For collections, ask your supplier to confirm the exact address (many firms are in industrial zones outside the centre), opening hours, carton or pallet count and dimensions, weight and value.
