Freight forwarding Warsaw – transport to and from the Czech Republic
Road freight between Warsaw and the Czech Republic: routes via Wrocław or Katowice, Polish truck bans, warehouse zones and the goods imported from Masovia.
Where shipments from Warsaw actually start
A load booked as "Warsaw" usually leaves from the warehouse belt around the city rather than from the centre: Pruszków and Błonie to the west, Mszczonów on the S8 expressway, Piaseczno to the south, or the Stryków hub near Łódź where the A1 and A2 motorways meet. The distance between these points can exceed a hundred kilometres, so we always ask for the exact collection address before quoting a transit time.
Typical import goods for Czech buyers
- Apples and apple juice concentrate – the Grójec area south of Warsaw is one of Europe's largest orchard regions
- Dairy products, meat and poultry from Masovian processors
- Cosmetics, household chemicals and cleaning products
- Pharmaceuticals and food supplements
- Printed matter, packaging and paper goods
- Furniture and home accessories
- Consumer goods from distribution centres serving Poland and Czechia
Warsaw also sits on the A2 motorway between Berlin and eastern Poland, and the intermodal terminals around the city receive container trains from the Baltic ports of Gdańsk and Gdynia. Overseas goods therefore often reach Warsaw by rail and continue to the Czech Republic by truck. Air cargo from Chopin Airport can be collected by van or a small truck.
In the opposite direction we move Czech machinery, automotive parts, glass, beer and building chemicals to customers in and around Warsaw.
Routes and transit times
For Bohemia the standard route runs on the S8 expressway via Wrocław, crosses the border at Kudowa-Słone – Náchod and continues on the D11 to Prague, about 680 km in total. Moravian destinations are reached via the A1 motorway through Częstochowa and Katowice, the Gorzyczki – Bohumín crossing and the D1, roughly 550 km from Warsaw to Brno. A full truck normally delivers in one to two working days, pallet groupage in two to four. See also our Prague – Warsaw route.
Rules on Polish roads
Poland has no year-round weekend ban, but trucks over 12 t may not drive during the day on public holidays, and during the summer school holidays additional bans apply on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and Sundays. Motorways and expressways charge an electronic toll for vehicles above 3.5 t. Polish public holidays only partly match Czech ones, and warehouses are closed on days such as Corpus Christi or 3 May. Warsaw also has a clean transport zone and restricts heavy trucks in the central districts, so city-centre deliveries go by smaller vehicles.
Matching the service to the goods
Fruit, dairy and meat travel in reefer trailers at a set temperature with a continuous temperature log; apples at harvest time often move as full loads straight from cold stores. Cosmetics and household goods usually come as mixed pallets from distribution centres, where pallet groupage is the efficient choice. Aerosols and some cleaning agents fall under ADR, and we then book a carrier equipped for dangerous goods. Furniture tends to need a full trailer because of its volume rather than its weight.
Checklist before collection
Please confirm the exact site address and gate, whether the warehouse requires a booked time slot, the number, size and height of pallets, whether they can be stacked or exchanged, and the required temperature for food. Paperwork is simple within the EU: a CMR consignment note and an invoice or delivery note, plus a temperature record for chilled goods. Use the calculator for a price; our dispatch replies on working days usually within 30 minutes.
