Road freight and forwarding — France
France is one of the destinations we serve with regular truck transport from the Czech Republic and back. We cover Paris as well as other regions. We carry full truckloads (FTL) and smaller part loads (LTL), from a single pallet to a complete trailer.
Among the most frequent lanes are Prague → Strasbourg, Prague → Paris, Prague → Lyon, Prague → Marseille. CMR consignment notes and complete transport and customs paperwork are always included. On busy lanes we look for backloads, which keeps the transport cost down and delivery times short — typically 24–72 hours within the EU.
A no-obligation freight quote arrives within 30 minutes — just tell us where from, where to and what. Get a price or see how our freight rates work.

Three corridors through Germany
France does not border the Czech Republic, so every load crosses Germany. We pick the corridor by destination:
- North and Paris – D5 via Rozvadov, A6 via Nuremberg and Mannheim, into France near Saarbrücken and on via Metz and Reims.
- Alsace and Lorraine – A6 and A5 via Karlsruhe to Strasbourg.
- South and the Rhône-Alpes – via Stuttgart and Basel to Mulhouse and Lyon, or through Switzerland where goods and customs status allow.
Prague to Paris is roughly 1,050 km by road, Lyon around 1,000 km and Bordeaux over 1,500 km. See the Prague – Paris route and the Lyon city page for detail.
Transit times
| French region | Full truckload, single driver |
|---|---|
| Alsace, Lorraine | next working day |
| Paris, Hauts-de-France, Champagne, Burgundy | 2 working days |
| Lyon, Grenoble, Normandy | 2 working days |
| Brittany, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseille, Riviera | 3 working days |
Pallet groupage typically adds one to two days. Urgent loads can travel with a two-driver crew or by express van, reaching Paris the next day. For smaller imports from several French suppliers, such as wine from a number of estates, we consolidate pickups onto one truck for a single delivery in the Czech Republic.
Importing from France
- Île-de-France and Hauts-de-France – cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, distribution stock, glass, food and animal feed.
- Grand Est – chemicals, steel, wood and paper, Champagne and Alsace wines.
- Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes – chemicals, plastics, pharmaceuticals, machine and electrical parts, tyres, cheese.
- Normandy and Brittany – dairy, meat, frozen food and cargo from Le Havre.
- Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie – wine, cognac, timber, aerospace components, fruit and vegetables.
Czech exports to France include car parts, machinery, glass, furniture, building materials, beer and metal and plastic products. Given the distance, round trips matter, and import loads from France back to the Czech Republic are usually covered quickly.
Driving bans, tolls and Crit'Air
Trucks over 7.5 tonnes may not drive from Saturday 10 pm to Sunday 10 pm or on public holidays, usually from 10 pm the evening before. Selected busy Saturdays in summer add daytime bans. French holidays such as 14 July, Assumption Day and All Saints' Day are working days in the Czech Republic, and the reverse applies to Czech holidays, so we plan around both calendars.
Most French motorways are tolled at barriers by vehicle class and run by concession companies. Large cities operate low-emission zones requiring a Crit'Air sticker that matches the vehicle's emission class, and some also restrict truck access at certain hours.
Loading and documents
French warehouses usually require a booked delivery appointment (rendez-vous); without one a truck may be refused. Wineries and small producers often lack a dock, so a tail-lift or curtain-sider is needed. Please confirm the address, opening hours including the lunch break, pallet count, dimensions and weight. No customs declaration is needed within the EU: a CMR note and invoice or delivery note suffice. Wine and spirits move under an electronic excise document, chilled food with a temperature record.
