Road freight and forwarding — Germany

Germany is one of the destinations we serve with regular truck transport from the Czech Republic and back. We cover Berlin as well as other regions. We carry full truckloads (FTL) and smaller part loads (LTL), from a single pallet to a complete trailer.

Among the most frequent lanes are Prague → Berlin, Prague → Munich, Prague → Frankfurt, Prague → Dresden. CMR consignment notes and complete transport and customs paperwork are always included. On busy lanes we look for backloads, which keeps the transport cost down and delivery times short — typically 24–72 hours within the EU.

A no-obligation freight quote arrives within 30 minutes — just tell us where from, where to and what. Get a price or see how our freight rates work.

Main corridors and border crossings

Germany is the Czech Republic's largest trading partner, and most of that trade moves by truck. Which crossing a load uses depends on where in Germany it is collected, so we plan the route around the pickup address rather than habit.

  • Rozvadov / Waidhaus on the D5 and A6 – the main gateway for freight from Nuremberg, Baden-Württemberg, the Rhineland and beyond.
  • Krásný Les / Breitenau on the D8 and A17 – towards Dresden, then the A4 to Leipzig and Thuringia or the A13 to Berlin and the northern ports.
  • Folmava / Furth im Wald – the link between the Plzeň region and Regensburg or Lower Bavaria.
  • Pomezí / Schirnding – a short connection from western Bohemia into Upper Franconia.

Importing from Germany: regions and goods

Imports from Germany into the Czech Republic cover almost every industry, but each region has its own profile:

  • Bavaria – automotive components, machinery, electrical equipment, construction chemicals and food-processing equipment.
  • Baden-Württemberg – machine tools, precision engineering, measuring technology and car parts.
  • North Rhine-Westphalia – steel and semi-finished metal, chemicals, plastic granulate, packaging and building materials.
  • Saxony and Thuringia – automotive parts, semiconductors and electronics, glass, paper and timber.
  • Hamburg, Bremen and Lower Saxony – containerised goods from the ports, food, animal feed and agricultural machinery.

In the other direction we mostly move Czech car parts, metal and plastic products, glass, furniture, food and building materials. Because trucks travel loaded both ways, return capacity is usually easy to find. See the Prague – Berlin and Prague – Frankfurt routes for detail on two of the busiest lanes.

These estimates apply to imports and exports alike and respect EU driving-time rules. An express van reaches most of Germany by the following day.

Rules of the road

Trucks over 7.5 tonnes may not drive on Sundays and public holidays, usually from midnight until 10 pm. Holidays differ between federal states – Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg observe several that the north does not. In July and August a Saturday ban also applies on selected motorways used by holiday traffic. We check these dates when the order is placed so that collection and delivery do not fall on a blocked day.

Heavy goods vehicles pay a distance-based electronic toll on motorways and federal roads, calculated by weight, axles and emission class. Most large cities have low-emission zones that require a green sticker, and we assign vehicles that comply.

Loading and paperwork

German warehouses work with fixed time slots, and large consignees often require an online delivery booking. Please confirm the exact address, opening hours or booking number, whether there is a loading dock or side loading is needed, pallet count, dimensions, weight and any pallet exchange. For port pickups we also need the container number and release reference.

There are no customs formalities between the two countries; a CMR consignment note and an invoice or delivery note are enough. Temperature-controlled food travels with a temperature record, and dangerous goods with ADR documents. Use the freight calculator for an indicative price.
