Freight and imports from Madrid to the Czech Republic
Road freight from Madrid to the Czech Republic via Burgos, Irun and France: full trucks and groupage pallets from the Madrid logistics belt. Quote in 30 min.

Madrid as a loading point
Madrid is less a factory town than a national distribution hub. Manufacturers from across Spain ship into warehouses along the A-2 corridor towards Guadalajara, in the southern industrial estates along the A-4 and A-42, and around the M-40 and M-50 ring roads. For a buyer in the Czech Republic that is convenient: one collection in Madrid often covers products that were made hundreds of kilometres away.
Typical consignments we arrange from the Madrid area to Czechia include:
- consumer goods, household chemicals and cosmetics from central warehouses,
- shelf-stable food, cured meats, cheese and canned goods,
- wine from Castilla-La Mancha and other inland regions,
- printed matter, paper and packaging,
- spare parts for the automotive and aerospace industries,
- pharmaceuticals and medical supplies with temperature-controlled carriers.
Route and transit time
The usual route runs north on the A-1 via Burgos to the French border at Irun / Biriatou, then through France past Bordeaux and Paris or Orléans towards Strasbourg or Saarbrücken, across Germany via Nuremberg and into the Czech Republic at Rozvadov on the D5. If the carrier has another pick-up in Catalonia, the truck goes via Zaragoza and La Jonquera instead and follows the Mediterranean coast up to Lyon.
The road distance from Madrid to Prague is roughly 2,300 km. A single driver covers about 600–700 km a day within EU driving-time rules, so a full truck normally arrives 4–5 working days after loading. Groupage pallets are consolidated and cross-docked on the way and usually take 5–8 working days.
Loading at Madrid warehouses
Almost every large distribution centre works with booked time slots. The supplier usually makes the booking; we need the confirmed time and the reference number the warehouse will release the goods against. Warehouses in the logistics parks have dock doors and load from the rear. City-centre addresses are a different story: Madrid has a low-emission zone and access restrictions for heavy vehicles, so for a shop or small workshop in town a van or a smaller truck with a tail lift is the practical choice.
Weekend bans, tolls and paperwork
Trucks over 7.5 t may not run in France from Saturday evening to Sunday evening or on public holidays, and Germany bans them on Sundays and holidays, plus summer Saturdays on selected motorways. Spain issues its own restrictions for heavy vehicles on busy roads during long weekends, holidays and peak summer traffic. A load collected on Thursday or Friday therefore usually spends the weekend in France and is delivered early the following week.
Tolls apply on French motorways, on German motorways and major roads and on some Spanish toll sections; they are included in the price shown by our freight calculator. Spain and the Czech Republic are both in the EU, so there is no customs clearance – a CMR consignment note and an invoice or delivery note travel with the goods.
Choosing the right service
| Service | Best for | Typical transit |
|---|---|---|
| Full truck (FTL) | about 12–15 pallets or more, over 10 t, or goods that should not be reloaded | 4–5 working days |
| Groupage pallets | one to several pallets, flexible deadline | 5–8 working days |
| Express van | urgent parts and samples up to about 1 t | 2–3 days with two drivers |
For single pallets, our pallet groupage service keeps the cost per pallet down. For larger or fragile loads, a dedicated full truck runs direct without cross-docking.
Exports to Madrid and booking tips
Southbound, we move machinery, car parts, glass, furniture, building materials and retail goods from Czechia to Madrid warehouses. Combining an export with a return load from Madrid often helps us find capacity faster. When booking an import, ask your supplier to confirm the exact loading address, opening hours and slot booking requirement, the number and size of pallets, gross weight and the order reference. Booking 2–3 working days ahead gives the carrier time to fit the collection into its Spanish loop.
