Freight forwarding Malmö – transport to and from the Czech Republic
Road freight between Malmö and the Czech Republic via Trelleborg ferries or the Øresund Bridge: Skåne food, packaging, medtech and Nordic warehouse stock.

Sweden's closest gateway
For shippers in Central Europe, Malmö is the most accessible major city in Sweden. It lies in the province of Skåne and, since the Øresund Bridge opened in 2000, has formed one connected region with Copenhagen. For Czech traffic the key asset is Trelleborg, about 30 km south: Sweden's largest freight ferry port, with routes to Rostock and Travemünde in Germany and Świnoujście in Poland. Malmö itself also has a ferry to Travemünde.
Most of our loads run on the D8 via Krásný Les/Breitenau, Dresden and Berlin to Rostock, then by ferry to Trelleborg. That is around 610 km by road from Prague plus several hours at sea, which counts as the driver's rest period. A full load typically reaches Malmö, or Prague in the other direction, on the second working day. For Moravia and north-east Bohemia, the route through Poland and the Świnoujście ferry is often more practical. The overland alternative via Hamburg, the Puttgarden–Rødby ferry, Copenhagen and the bridge is longer and adds a bridge toll, but makes sense when a load combines Malmö and Copenhagen.
Skåne: Sweden's food basket
Skåne has the most fertile farmland in Sweden and hosts much of the country's food industry. Sugar beet grown here supplies virtually all Swedish sugar, alongside grain, rapeseed and potatoes. Dairies, meat processing, confectionery, bakery products and spirits build on that base. Around Malmö and nearby Lund, food and beverage packaging, pharmaceuticals, medical technology and life-science research have also grown strong.
- confectionery, baked goods, dairy and other food from Skåne,
- packaging and packaging materials for the food industry,
- medical devices, laboratory equipment and pharmaceuticals,
- stock from Nordic distribution centres in and around Malmö,
- industrial goods and building materials from southern Sweden.
Czech exports to the area include machinery and parts, automotive components, glass, furniture, building materials and food, so return capacity from Malmö is usually easy to find.
A distribution hub for the whole Nordic market
Thanks to the bridge and the ferry ports, the Malmö–Helsingborg–Lund triangle hosts warehouses serving Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Many goods we collect in Malmö were not made in Sweden at all but are stored there for Scandinavia. These sites work strictly to booked slots and may refuse unannounced trucks. Note that onward shipments from Malmö to Norway need customs clearance, as Norway is outside the EU; Sweden–Czechia traffic does not.
Matching transport to the goods
Chocolate and confectionery suffer in both summer heat and winter frost, so we book temperature-controlled trailers. Pharmaceuticals and lab supplies follow the temperature class stated by the supplier. Hazardous chemicals travel as ADR transport, and dangerous goods rules apply on the ferry too. Single pallets move via pallet groupage in 3–6 working days depending on ferry connections.
Swedish rules and documents
Sweden charges heavy goods vehicles a time-based fee under the Eurovignette scheme, and the Øresund Bridge is tolled separately. Unlike Stockholm and Gothenburg, Malmö has no congestion charge, but its centre is an environmental zone for heavy vehicles; trucks meeting Euro VI may enter. Sweden has no weekend truck ban, though Germany's Sunday and holiday ban applies on the way. A CMR note and an invoice or delivery note are sufficient, plus temperature records for food.
Before collection in Malmö
- Confirm the loading slot in writing, including the booking reference.
- Tell us whether the goods go direct or will be combined with loads in Copenhagen or Germany.
- Allow some buffer for the ferry: a delayed sailing shifts delivery by several hours.
