Freight forwarding Naples – transport to and from the Czech Republic
Road freight from Naples and Campania to the Czech Republic: canned tomatoes, pasta, mozzarella, hazelnuts, leather, aerospace parts. Route, port, transit time.

Three working days on the road
From Naples the route runs north on the A1 through Rome, Florence and Bologna, then either via Verona and the Brenner Pass or via Venice and Tarvisio. Prague is approximately 1,550–1,600 km away and Brno approximately 1,450–1,500 km via Vienna. A single driver normally needs 3 working days under EU driving-time rules. For urgent freight such as fresh mozzarella or parts for a stopped production line, a two-driver crew cuts the time roughly in half. Groupage pallets moving through Italian depots take 5–7 working days.
On a route this long the calendar matters. Vehicles over 7.5 t are banned from Italian roads on Sundays and public holidays and on some summer Saturdays, Austria has weekend and night restrictions and Germany bans trucks on Sundays. A truck loaded in Naples on Thursday or Friday will usually spend the weekend in transit, so Monday to Wednesday collections work best. Italian motorway tolls are charged by distance, Austrian and German tolls electronically. For the central Italian section of the route see our Rome page.
What Campania sends north
For food importers, the area around Naples is one of Italy's key sourcing regions, and each product needs a different vehicle:
- canned tomatoes, passata and pasta – the Sarno valley between Naples and Salerno is Italy's tomato-processing heartland and home of the protected San Marzano tomato, while Gragnano is known for dried pasta with protected geographical indication; these heavy, shelf-stable goods travel by full truck, with frost protection for glass jars in winter,
- buffalo mozzarella from the provinces of Caserta and Salerno – a fresh cheese with a short shelf life that needs a refrigerated vehicle, temperature records and a fast run,
- lemons from the Amalfi and Sorrento coasts and fresh vegetables – reefer trailer set to suit the produce,
- hazelnuts from the Avellino hills – dry, cool conditions and protection from moisture.
Industry matters too. The area around Naples and Pomigliano d'Arco has a significant aerospace sector producing fuselage sections, aerostructures and engine parts, alongside car and component manufacturing. Solofra near Avellino is a leather-tanning district, and Torre del Greco on the bay has a long tradition of coral working and cameo carving. High-value items such as jewellery are best sent by express transport.
Port, inland logistics zones and the city centre
The port of Naples lies right in the city and handles containers as well as ferries to the islands, Sicily and Sardinia. Salerno, about 55 km south, is the other nearby port. Containers discharged there can be collected and trucked to the Czech Republic, but non-EU goods must first be cleared or placed under transit. Most of Campania's warehouses and distribution centres are outside the city around Nola and Marcianise, in logistics zones with rail links and access to the A1 and A30 motorways.
The historic centre of Naples is a limited traffic zone (ZTL) with narrow, steep streets. Trucks load and unload at warehouses on the outskirts, and deliveries to restaurants and shops in the centre go by smaller vehicle. Ask your supplier to confirm a loading dock and dispatch hours.
Northbound and southbound loads, documents
From the Czech Republic to southern Italy we move beer, paper, glass, building materials and machine parts. Return loads matter to carriers on such a long route, so planning freight in both directions helps.
Within the EU a CMR consignment note and an invoice or delivery note are sufficient. Chilled food travels with temperature records, and for wine and spirits we check whether an excise accompanying document is required. Read more on transport to Italy or get a price from our calculator.
