Freight forwarding Pamplona – transport to and from the Czech Republic
Road freight between Pamplona and the Czech Republic: preserved vegetables, asparagus and piquillo peppers, wine, car parts and wind energy components.

Preserved vegetables from southern Navarre
The southern part of Navarre along the Ebro, known as the Ribera, is one of Spain's best-known vegetable-growing areas. White asparagus, piquillo peppers, artichokes and green beans are grown here, and much of the harvest is preserved on the spot. The canneries cluster around Tudela, Lodosa and other towns along the Ebro, within roughly a hundred kilometres of Pamplona.
Vegetables in glass jars are heavy yet fragile, so we plan for:
- tight stretch-wrapping and corner protection so jars cannot shift on a long journey,
- whether pallets can be stacked – with glass usually not, which affects how many fit,
- the weight of each pallet, since glass hits the weight limit before the floor is full,
- frost protection in winter, because jars in brine can crack in hard frost; we then use a temperature-controlled trailer.
Cans are sturdier and travel in a standard curtain-sider.
Seasons that affect capacity
Canneries follow the harvest: asparagus roughly from April to June, piquillo peppers in autumn. Demand for trucks in the region rises in those months, so book early. Also note the San Fermín festival in Pamplona from 6 to 14 July, when the historic centre is closed and city traffic is heavily restricted. Loading in the industrial areas on the outskirts continues, but plan deliveries to shops in the centre for another week.
Cars and wind energy
A large car plant on the edge of Pamplona builds passenger cars, surrounded by suppliers of pressings, seats, plastics and electronics. Some of these parts go to Central Europe, while Czech plants send components the other way. For production parts we plan around unloading windows and switch to an express van if a standard truck cannot make the slot.
Navarre was one of the first European regions to invest heavily in wind power, and manufacturers and developers of wind turbine components are still based here. Blades and towers are abnormal loads requiring special permits; control cabinets, cables, bearings and spare parts on pallets or in crates travel on a standard trailer. The region also ships wine, traditionally known for its rosés, and sheep's milk cheese from the Pyrenean valleys in refrigerated trailers.
Route via Irun or via Zaragoza
The French border at Irun is about 90 km from Pamplona, either along the N-121-A through the Bidasoa valley or via the A-15 and AP-8 past San Sebastián. Beyond the border trucks continue via Bordeaux and Paris or via Lyon into Germany. Prague is approximately 1,900 km away, so a full truck usually arrives in 3–4 working days; groupage takes around 5–7 working days. If the carrier also loads in Zaragoza or Catalonia, it will cross at La Jonquera instead. French weekend and holiday bans and the German Sunday ban apply, and tolls are due in France, Germany, the Czech Republic and on parts of the Spanish network.
Choosing the service
| Cargo | Recommended option |
|---|---|
| jarred vegetables, small volume | groupage, non-stackable pallets, temperature control in winter |
| preserves and wine from several producers | full truck with multiple pickups |
| cheese and chilled food | refrigerated trailer with temperature logging |
| production parts | full truck with a time slot, express if urgent |
Within the EU a CMR note and an invoice or delivery note are sufficient; for wine, excise paperwork must be settled before loading. Get a price from our freight calculator.

Pallets are tightly wrapped with corner protection and usually not stacked. In winter we use a temperature-controlled trailer so the jars do not crack in frost.
From 6 to 14 July the historic centre is closed and city traffic restricted. Industrial areas on the outskirts keep working, but avoid deliveries to the centre that week.
During the asparagus harvest from about April to June and the piquillo pepper harvest in autumn. Book early in those months.
