Road freight and forwarding — Slovakia

Slovakia is one of the destinations we serve with regular truck transport from the Czech Republic and back. We cover Bratislava as well as other regions. We carry full truckloads (FTL) and smaller part loads (LTL), from a single pallet to a complete trailer.

Among the most frequent lanes are Prague → Bratislava, Brno → Bratislava, Ostrava → Bratislava, Zlin → Bratislava. CMR consignment notes and complete transport and customs paperwork are always included. On busy lanes we look for backloads, which keeps the transport cost down and delivery times short — typically 24–72 hours within the EU.

A no-obligation freight quote arrives within 30 minutes — just tell us where from, where to and what. Get a price or see how our freight rates work.

The closest foreign market, almost like domestic transport

There are no customs or language barriers between the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and most shipments arrive by the next day. That is why part loads and add-on pickups work particularly well here: a truck running from Prague to Žilina with a partial load can collect extra pallets in Olomouc or Zlín on the way. For small and medium consignments this is often faster than warehouse-based groupage.

Crossings by destination

  • Lanžhot / Brodské on the D2 – Bratislava, Trnava, Nitra and on to Hungary.
  • Starý Hrozenkov / Drietoma – Trenčín, the Váh valley and central Slovakia.
  • Horní Lideč / Lysá pod Makytou – Púchov and Považská Bystrica.
  • Mosty u Jablunkova / Svrčinovec – the D3 to Čadca, Žilina, Martin and Orava.
  • Hodonín / Holíč and smaller crossings – the Záhorie region.

From Prague and Brno we mostly run via the D1 and D2 through Bratislava; from Ostrava we cross at Mosty towards Žilina. See the Prague – Bratislava route for the main capital-to-capital lane.

What the Czech Republic imports from Slovakia

  • Bratislava, Trnava and Nitra – cars and car parts, electronics, chemicals, plastics and distribution-centre stock.
  • Žilina and the Váh valley – automotive components, tyres and rubber goods, engineering parts.
  • Central Slovakia – aluminium, wood and paper, magnesite and building materials.
  • Košice and the east – steel, sheet metal, timber and furniture.
  • Southern Slovakia – grain, maize, vegetables, sugar and wine.

Czech exports to Slovakia include food and drink for retail chains, building materials, engineering products, components for Slovak car plants and consumer goods.

Transit times

Western Slovakia is same-day by full truckload from Moravia, and same evening or next morning from Prague. Žilina, Martin and Banská Bystrica are next working day, as are Prešov and Košice for morning loadings. Pallet groupage covers all of Slovakia within one to two working days.

Road rules

Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes pay an electronic toll on motorways, expressways and selected first-class roads. Heavy trucks face driving bans on Sundays and public holidays and, in summer, on Saturdays as well; we confirm the exact hours before each order because Slovak and Czech rules differ. Several Slovak public holidays are not observed in the Czech Republic and vice versa, which also affects warehouse opening hours. Instead of low-emission zones, expect restrictions on trucks in city centres and weight limits on bridges, plus winter conditions on northern mountain sections.

Loading and documents

Car plants and their suppliers work to tight just-in-time slots, so we plan buffers to arrive at the gate on time. Smaller sites, builders' merchants and farms often lack a loading dock, in which case we send a tail-lift or curtain-sider truck. No customs apply: a CMR note and invoice or delivery note suffice, with temperature records for food and ADR documents for dangerous goods. Check an indicative price in the calculator.
