Freight forwarding Timișoara – transport to and from Czechia
Road freight between Timișoara and the Czech Republic by motorway via Hungary: automotive electronics, wiring harnesses, tyres and Banat grain. FTL and express.

An automotive and electronics city
Timișoara is one of Romania's strongest regional economies, and Timiș county is among the few Romanian counties that export more than they import. Automotive components lead the way, supported by contract electronics manufacturing, wiring harness production and telecommunications equipment. Tyres and engine components are also made in the city. Typical loads we bring to Czech and Slovak customers include:
- automotive electronics, control units, sensors and assembled circuit boards,
- wiring harnesses and electrical components,
- tyres,
- pistons, filters and other engine parts,
- vehicle lighting and plastic parts,
- grain and oilseeds from the Banat plain: wheat, maize, sunflower and rapeseed.
In the other direction, Czech suppliers send plastic granulate, metal stampings, connectors, packaging material and production-line machinery. The Czech and Slovak automotive industry is closely linked to the Banat, and loads run both ways all year.
Route and transit times
From Brno, trucks take the D2 to Bratislava, Hungarian motorways via Budapest and Szeged to the Csanádpalota/Nădlac crossing, then Romania's A1 via Arad to Timișoara. The distance is roughly 650 km from Brno and 860 km from Prague. A full load with one driver usually reaches Brno on the morning of the second working day and Prague that afternoon. Since 2025 Romania has been fully in Schengen, so trucks no longer queue for border checks.
Hungary charges a distance-based electronic toll for trucks, while Romania uses an electronic road vignette. Slovakia and Hungary restrict heavy trucks at weekends and on public holidays, so a Friday collection in Timișoara usually means a Monday delivery in Czechia.
Shipping high-value electronics
Assembled boards and control units carry high value in little space. We choose carriers with adequate cargo insurance who park in secured areas overnight. ESD-sensitive goods must be packed by the supplier in antistatic packaging; our part is to avoid unnecessary transhipment. Deliveries to Czech car plants often run to tight time windows, and when a line is waiting for a part we arrange express transport by van with two drivers, arriving the same day or the next morning. Regular shipments of a few pallets are best sent by pallet groupage, typically 3–5 working days.
Arad, the Banat and harvest season
Arad, less than 60 km north, is another industrial city of western Romania, with automotive component plants and a long tradition of railway wagon building. Since it lies directly on the route to Hungary, collections in both cities combine easily into one truck. The Banat plain is also one of Romania's grain baskets; after the summer and autumn harvests, demand for grain trucks rises and free capacity can tighten, so we recommend booking ahead.
The city has a notable history too: in 1884 it became the first European city to light its streets with electric lamps, and in 2023 it was a European Capital of Culture.
Documents and collection checklist
Romania is in the EU, so no customs formalities apply. A CMR note and an invoice or delivery note are sufficient; for chemicals or batteries we arrange ADR transport with the required paperwork. Before collection, please send us:
- the exact address, as industrial zones around Timișoara are large and gate entrances differ,
- the order number or reference the warehouse knows you by,
- pallet count, dimensions, weight and stackability,
- the loading window and a shipping office contact.
Our calculator gives an indicative rate; dispatch usually sends a non-binding quote within 30 minutes on working days.
