Aluminium, electronics and a royal past

For centuries Székesfehérvár was where Hungarian kings were crowned, and fifteen of them were buried here. Today it is the seat of Fejér county with about 95,000 residents at the 2022 census, some 65 km south-west of Budapest on the road and rail junction between Lake Balaton and Lake Velence.

Three industries shaped the city in the 20th century: aluminium processing, radio and television manufacturing and bus building. Buses are no longer made here, but aluminium and electronics remain, joined after 1989 by foreign investors and automotive suppliers. For a Czech buyer that translates into a short list of very specific freight.

What we collect for Czech customers

  • Aluminium sheet and strip in coils from the local rolling mill.
  • Forged aluminium parts and extruded profiles for cars and trucks.
  • Assembled circuit boards and finished devices from contract electronics plants.
  • Diesel engine components and other automotive parts.

Heading the other way, Czech companies ship steel and plastic parts, fasteners, tools and moulds, machine spares and packaging materials into the city's plants.

Loading coils and circuit boards

Aluminium coils are heavy for their size. They are loaded by crane from above or the side and travel in a trailer with a coil well or on secured timber cradles. Aluminium also reacts badly to condensation: a cold coil moved into a warm hall can show water stains that a customer may reject. Ask your supplier to wrap coils in vapour-proof film with desiccant.

Electronics are light but valuable and sensitive to shocks. They ride in a closed box or a curtainsider with rigid sides, and for high-value consignments we recommend cargo insurance on top of the carrier's basic CMR liability. Small batches of boards are ideal for an express van, because nothing is handled at a depot along the way.

The route that skips Budapest

There is no need to go through the capital. From Brno the truck follows the D2 past Bratislava to Rajka, takes the M1 to Győr and then main road 81 through Kisbér straight to Székesfehérvár. That is roughly 300 km from Brno and 500 km from Prague. A full load collected in the morning reaches Brno in the afternoon and Prague the same day or early the next working day. Road 81 is single carriageway through villages, so for oversized loads or night runs we use the M1, M0 and M7 motorways instead. Our page on Győr covers the city on the way.

The M7 from Székesfehérvár to Lake Balaton is one of Hungary's busiest roads in summer. Trucks over 7.5 t may not run from Saturday 22:00 to Sunday 22:00, from Saturday 15:00 in July and August, and on public holidays, and some of the summer exemptions do not apply on the M7. Electronic tolls are charged per kilometre on motorways and main roads.

Picking a service

Single pallets of parts or electronics go on our pallet groupage service, two to three working days to Brno. Coils and profiles usually justify a full truck because they use the payload even when the trailer looks half empty. Urgent production parts go by van the same day.

Before collection, confirm with your supplier whether they load by crane, by forklift at a dock or from the side, the weight of the heaviest coil or pallet and the dimensions of electronics crates. Large plants require advance registration at the gate, so include the collection reference in your order. A CMR note and an invoice or delivery note are enough; no customs documents are needed within the EU.
