Freight forwarding Liberec – road transport, import and export
Road freight for Liberec: car parts, glass and costume jewellery out, materials in from Saxony and Poland via Hrádek nad Nisou. Pallets or full loads.

A city at the tripoint
Few Czech regional capitals are as close to two borders as Liberec. Road I/35 runs north-west past Bílý Kostel nad Nisou to Hrádek nad Nisou, where Czechia, Germany and Poland meet. From there trucks continue through Zittau and along the B178 to the German A4 between Bautzen and Görlitz, or cross the bridge at Porajów into Poland. A second route to Poland follows road I/13 via Frýdlant to the Habartice/Zawidów crossing and on towards the Polish A4 and Wrocław.
Prague is about 110 km south via the dual-carriageway I/35 to Turnov and the D10 motorway past Mladá Boleslav – an easy same-day round trip. Berlin is roughly 300 km away via Saxony and also reachable within a working day.
Industry: from cloth to car components
Liberec grew rich on textiles in the 19th century, and its technical university still trains textile engineers. Today the region's largest sector is automotive supply: headlamps, plastic and rubber parts, wiring and seats for car plants in Czechia and Germany, including the large car-making centre in Mladá Boleslav an hour down the D10. The Jablonec area is famous for costume jewellery, glass beads and buttons, while the Nový Bor area produces decorative glass and lighting. Nonwoven textiles, machinery, plastics and wood products complete the picture.
Typical inbound freight for the region includes:
- plastic granulate, metal semi-finished products and electronic parts for automotive suppliers,
- raw materials and chemicals for glassworks and textile mills,
- machinery and spare parts, often from Saxony and Bavaria,
- consumer goods, food and furniture for retail.
Mountains, snow and road rules
Liberec lies in a basin between Ještěd and the Jizera Mountains. In snowy weather road I/10 via Harrachov to Poland is often closed to trucks, so we route Polish loads through Habartice or Hrádek nad Nisou instead. Steep streets in parts of Liberec and Jablonec are awkward for articulated trucks – a smaller rigid vehicle is often the better choice there.
Germany bans trucks over 7.5 tonnes on Sundays and public holidays, with extra Saturday restrictions on selected motorways in summer; Poland restricts heavy trucks on public holidays and summer weekends. Tolls in all three countries are collected electronically, and in Czechia they also apply to some first-class roads, including the I/35.
In the other direction the region ships car parts to German and other European assembly plants, glass and lighting to retailers and hotels across the EU, and costume jewellery that Jablonec has exported worldwide for generations. Some of it leaves Europe via the seaports of Hamburg or Rotterdam, and we can arrange the road leg to the port terminal.
Picking the service
Automotive suppliers work to tight just-in-time schedules, so a missing part means a stopped line. In those cases we send express transport by van, direct and without transhipment. Regular larger volumes to Saxony or Bavaria are usually best as full truckloads. A few pallets of glass or jewellery go more cheaply as groupage, but should be crated and labelled as non-stackable. Paints, adhesives and other chemicals may fall under ADR and travel with certified carriers. More on German deliveries: transport to Germany.
Before loading, confirm the exact address and warehouse hours, gate or dock number, pallet count, sizes, weights, stackability and whether side loading is possible. Within the EU a CMR note and an invoice or delivery note are all you need. For an indicative price use the calculator.

FAQ
Usually I/35 to Hrádek nad Nisou, through Zittau and along the B178 to the A4 motorway. For Bavaria the route via Prague and the D5 is often quicker.
About 110 km on the I/35 and D10, so full loads and express vans deliver the same day. Groupage usually takes one to two working days.
Habartice/Zawidów on road I/13 or the route via Hrádek nad Nisou. The road through Harrachov is often closed to trucks during snowfall.
Plastic granulate, metals and electronics for car-parts production, raw materials for glass and textiles, and machinery from Saxony and Bavaria.
Small volumes go well as groupage pallets if crated and marked non-stackable. Very fragile or high-value goods are safer on a direct vehicle without transhipment.
No, all three countries are in the EU. A CMR consignment note and an invoice or delivery note are enough, plus ADR papers for dangerous goods.
